Make sure the "Hard Stuff" is the "Fun Stuff"
I CAN be focused and stick to a tough project. I can put my mind, and hands to task.
I've learned my part of a four-hand piano duet for church, and was actually able to play in in front of the congregation without my shaking knees bouncing me right off the piano bench - barely.
I knit Rogue.
At "Scrapbook Summer Camp" this summer I was actually voted "Most likely to actually finish what she came to do."
Hey - I even had 29+ lbs worth of three kids in 3-1/2 years. I can do the tough stuff.
It helps if the hard stuff is also the fun stuff.
I do have it in me somewhere - to succeed. I WILL finish the Fair Isle sweater - I'm not even worried about it. It really doesn't even matter how long it take. Right now, we're still in the "loving it" phase, and it's actually coming along quite well. I'm still having fun with it - not yet looking for that inevitable project "vacation."
But, I have ordered yarn for what that vacation will be - Sizzle. Just gotta order the pattern and wait for my yarn to show up.
The timing should be perfect.

I can't believe how far you've gotten already! It's looking great!
What yarn are you going to use for Sizzle?
Your Fair Isle is looking great!! Girl, you are one fast knitter...I don't think I could knit that fast on a single colour sock let alone Fair Isle!
Your sweater is looking great! Is there a way to record you playing the piano and then put it on your blog? I'd love to hear you play!
You are doing fantastic! Wow!
Wow, you are making awesome progress. I'm so impressed.oa
Sorry for the little "oa" at the end of my sentence. It's not secret code . . . it's just that I seem to have typed some of the word verification in the wrong box. LOL
Wow!! I'd love to learn Fair Isle, it's so pretty, but I'm not so talented in the changing of the colors part of knitting!! You're knitting it up so fast I doubt you'll have time to get tired of it.
your fair isle is looking VERY pretty. your pictures are very inspiring!
as for sizzle - what a coincedence - i just purchased the pattern/yarn for that a couple days ago! the yarn should be coming in sometime next week, can't wait to cast on for it!
Wow your fair isle is amazing. And it looks so smooth and even. I'm inspired. I just might have to try my hand at it someday. Isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery?
Wow. Looking great Linda! I know you'll finish it too. It's so colorful and pretty, you practically have to to keep going just to see more and more.
Isn't today your birthday? (I believe I read that on Wendy's blog) Hope you do something fun and fantastic today!! Happy birthday
Oh, you just took to the fair isle like fish to water and you are zipping along, no problems with carrying the yarn or whatever it is you need to do for fair isle! WOW! Way to go! I'd like to try this someday :)
It's looking great, Lynda! I bet watching the pattern appear keeps you knitting.
First, let me wish you a Happy Birthday :o)
Second, let me tell you that I'm green with envy over here with how easily you've taken to fair isle :op~~

I'm so glad that you will be knitting Sizzle too. If I need help I'll know where to turn :)
That Fair Isle looks amazing. It must be alot of fun.
You're on a roll! You're just turning that stuff out. I'd better get my butt in gear....
i can't help but smile reading this post. i don't know why. :) hard stuff = fun stuff. not always true, but it really is a simple truth when you think about it. hard stuff is what you can look back on later, years later, and laugh upon. you don't quit remember all the easy stuff. you don't really recall going through it. hard stuff takes you on the ride of your life. huh. fun stuff. ;)
so gorgeous! kate at a strikke is making that too. i bet it seems to go quickly, with all the fun color and pattern changes.
Oh, your fair isle is looking fabulous, Lynda!
