Cost: $3.99, Weight: 3 oz

This is just a beautiful little bit of nothing! (click pic for bigness)

Pattern: Ene's Scarf, from Scarf Style

Yarn: KnitPicks Bare, laceweight, dyed by Kaity, about 3/4 skein

Needles: KnitPicks Options, size 6.

Comments: I STILL managed to goof up the diamonds on the border, after all the drama of casting on.... but it doesn't look bad. The pattern was fun, and relatively fast. The yarn is a dream, and for only $3.99.... well, you can't beat it!

it's absolutely beautiful!!!

BTW I wanted to let you know that I'm viewing your blog in Firefox 2.0 and your right sidebar is all wonky. The middle text column intrudes onto the sidebar; the photos on the sidebar actually overlap each other. Just thought you'd want to know!

Lynda, My goodness, you do beautiful work I cannot believe how intricate the design is! Knitting lace is something that I have not been successful with. I hope to be able master it some day.

Oh my gosh how beautiful. You just picked my first lace project for me!! I just finished winding a skein of that very same yarn (dyed by me) into a ball this morning because for about the last six months it has been whispering to me from a basket in my kitchen saying "you know you want me... you know you love the way I feel... you know I'll be beautiful... you know you want me..." I'm weak. what can I say? I can't WAIT to cast on for that beautiful shawl! And how could I resist, knowing it's a Nancy Bush pattern. Yours is beautiful!!! Congratulations!!!

GOOD DEAL! small cost, BIG return.

i suppose if i knit stuff for other people, it's more likely that i'll finish it in a timely manner...whereas if i knit for myself, i get to thinking "eh...i don't REALLY need to finish it." no pressure. the cost of my effort isn't so obvious because i'm doing it for someone else; i feel vindicated when i see how much someone else enjoys what i made.

when i make something for me, i think a lot about how much the yarn is worth, how much time it's taking me to make something, how little i care about the finished object because it's for me and i'm not that great at knitting some things anyways so i don't mind that it looks a little off. guess i don't make much of an investment in myself, huh?

hmmm....

My Ene is blocking as we speak, after only about 6 months on the needles.

It's beautiful, Lynda! And the color is perfect for you. I think you and Kaity make a great team!

Also, about that LYS in Santa Barbara--I wouldn't go back there, either. I don't know why she thinks poorly of Cascade 220. I doubt she has been in any craft stores (since she's so snooty), so how would she know? If there is one thing I don;'t like it's snooty-ness.
