This Doesn't Scare Me One Bit
Here we are... one-third finished with the body of my Fair Isle sweater. From here on out, these patterns repeat twice more, with the colors getting lighter and more subdued as it works its way up.
All this pattern and color - I'm loving every minute of it. I'm sure it's a bit much for some, probably most, people - but, heck.... I come from a family of men who wear dueling plaids on a regular basis - color and pattern don't scare me.
Through the college years, my now sister-in-law even made up a "multicolor person" song that she would sing to my now-hubby on a regular basis.
(To the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy)
"I'm a multicolor person - multicolor yes I am. If I had done my laundry sooner, I would have something that matched."
We still sing that song occasionally around here - it's a family classic.
I'm no stranger to a lot of color.
Actually, in my own wardrobe, this is a bit "loud." I tend to play it safe most of the time - with a few little touches here and there just to make the kids say "ew.. Mom!". Like throwing on the fishnet stockings with the conservative pencil skirt and blouse, for church. But, really, most of what I wear is boring... your basic Old Navy, Gap, Levi's....
I could use a little "multi-color dueling plaid" in my wardrobe - this oughta do it, doncha think?
Hey - if it makes ya twitch - just look away... I won't make you wear it.

How was the "big day"?
It's gorgeous! I can't believe how fast you are cruising along! BTW - Is it knit in the round with steeks or seperate peices or ???
Looking Good!
I don't have a thing to wear with it in my closet but I love it anyway!!
With a white t-shirt and jeans it would look stunning.
it's just beautiful!
okay i just went back and read that you have been knitting for a year??? and you're doing two handed fair isle...
wow!!!
good for you~
It's looking great. And I have every confidence that you'll pull off wearing it with aplomb. Just don't stand next to Dad!
I LOVE the color mix! But I have always loved lot's of color ... not always on my body at the same time, but I did knit the KnitPick Fair Isle vest & love wearing it. You're going to love your's ... I can even see it with blue jeans.!!

I love it!
Beautiful absolutely beautiful.
Happy Belated Birthday! What did you do on your day? Did you buy any yarn? Did you get some quality knitting time?
I'm loving your sweater!
It's beautiful! I can't wait to see the finished product!

WOW, that is totally amazzzzzzing! The color!!!! I would wear that for sure... but I'm a color hound. GREAT job!
I'm amazed at how quickly it's going!
The song is a riot.
I love the FI. Twitch? Nah.
Oooh, I likey!
I'm twitching a bit :) but I think it will look stunning with something in basic black. I'm trying to wear more colour these days just for fun. You've really got to show us your fishnet-stockinged look one of these days. I can't wear any hosiery - it's way too warm here.
You're doing an awesome job Lynda! I'm looking at some of the mitten patterns (one that has a hat and mittens, and one is just mittens) in the new Knit Picks catalogue...and I think I might order it/them just so I can do some colour work on something small. I think I'd like to do that before I attempt the socks...but then I might start the socks first...who knows! LOL!
wow - I'm speechless amd breathless!
I can't wait to try Fair Isle!

Well, that link didn't post well to the blog comments...but I was showing you the knitpicks fair isle SKIRT.
Dare ya. Bah haw haw!
I am envious of your speediness. It's a beautiful sweater and I'm sure it's fun to knit. I love fairisle. It keeps me occupied!
It looks GREAT!!
Now that's a piece of art! Such knitting skills you have.
Wow, it's looking great. I think your about up to wear I left off on mine.
Wow, yeah, your sweater does look like the exact twin of mine! I'll be checking back in here - it's like a mini Knit-a-Long! :-) I can't promise I'll be able to be helpful in any way when it comes to the steeks, but I'll try! I'm going to follow the tutorial for crocheted steeks from Eunny's Jang's blog to the letter, and hope for the best.
lovely and amazing. :)
look at you go with the fair isle! and truly, there are other more important things to be afraid of than color and patterns...like, um, heights. yeah. heights.
and fishnets to church?! that's hilarious! imagine the spleen damage you would reckon if you told your kids you were wearing a thong to church! hahaha!
colors and fishnets aside, i would totally wear it. totally! and then when i wore the stitches thin, i'd felt it and cut it up into a bag to get more mileage out of it. or you know, that'd be my backup plan if i couldn't make the whole sweater. but i know you'll finish it :) when it comes to certain knits, i like to think it's never a question of if, but when.
You are just rocking along on that thing. That ought to go well with the fishnets for church.
Randomly blog-hopping and I found your blog.
I absolutely LOVE that sweater. What pattern is it?
I go away for 10 minutes (OK, days) and look how far you've gotten - wow!
Oh my gosh Lynda! It's beautiful!!! And it's not hard??? For real?
